So…I’ve seen 7 episodes of The Vampire Diaries and what do I think of it? It’s getting better for each episode that passes, I’m not saying that it’s a GREAT AND AMAZING show, but it’s good. There’s a lot of angst…who isn’t surprised? Elena and Stefan will get together and break up again and again, oh the angst is killing me.

And Damon is the bad guy, who has “some” good in him, the writers really want to make that a really obvious fact. But when their focus group is a bunch of tweens who are diehard Twilight fans, who can blame them? What’s obvious for us (I’m 23) isn’t always as clear to them…we have to make things easy on their tiny little brains with a need of a weekly vampire fix.

For those of you who don’t live in the US, you can watch the show here!

I would like to say that The Vampire Diaries as a book is entertaining, romantic, thrilling and predictable. I can’t really say the same about the tv-series yet. By predictable I don’t mean that it’s boring, not at all, but simply that the outcome is obvious.

We have Elena who is the golden girl, who can have any boy she wants until Stefan comes along. Stefan that’s brooding and mysterious, seems to be the only one who can resist Elena, even as he struggles to protect her from the horrors that haunt his past. And last but not least we have Damon, the sexy one, who is the real predator and driven by an urge for revenge against Stefan, the brother who betrayed him. Determined to have Elena, he would even kill her to have her in his possession.

In my opinion Stefan is the better choice even though he thinks that he has taken the high road in all the drama between him and his brother. He has rather put the whole matter in a jar and sealed it tight hoping that it won’t get out and make things uncomfortable for him. Damon on the other hand has the whole revenge thing on lockdown. He knows which buttons to push and how to play the game like a man. That vamp invented the term revenge!

So…vampires are the new hot thing in Hollywood for those of you who have been in a media coma since last year. The latest addition is The Vampire Diaries based on the book series by author L.J. Smith and it premiers on September 10th on The CW channel.

Many people will definitely compare this with Trueblood and Twilight, but I don’t think that’s fair since these book were written before any of them and the storyline differs…you’ve heard these arguments before right? And to all those who keep complaing that Elena is blonde in the book and the actress isn’t…if that’s your only issue with the whole show then you should just zip it.

All I’m saying is that you should give the show a chance before you rip apart and throw it to the wolves.
